1. Does BSAC have indoor or outdoor swimming pools?

The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center currently has one 50-meter Olympic size swimming pool with a diving well equipped with a 1-meter and 3-meter springboard, as well as a 5-meter and 10-meter diving platform. BSAC also has a baby pool that is four feet deep throughout. BSAC currently has plans to build an indoor 25-meter by 25-meter indoor swimming and diving facility, as well as a new 50-meter Olympic size outdoor swimming pool with competitive diving well and dry-land training area.

2. Are the swimming pools heated in the winter?

BSAC's swimming pools are heated to a comfortable 86 degrees during the cooler winter months.

3. Does BSAC offer adult swimming lessons?

BSAC offers adult swimming lessons. Adults can choose between having a group lesson, or a private lesson. For lesson pricing information, please call BSAC at (813) 689-0908.

4. What time does the pool open for lap swimming?

Year-round the swimming pool opens for lap swimming at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday the pool is open for lap swimming at 11 a.m. Sunday the pool is open for lap swimming at 1 p.m.

5. What age do children need to be to take swimming lessons?

BSAC offers swimming lessons to children as young as six months. This class is called Mommy and Me and it is designed to help babies become comfortable in the water while they have the support of one or both of their parents and one of our trained swimming instructors. BSAC also offers a variety of lessons to toddlers, school age children, high school students, and adults. 6. Does BSAC offer before and after school care for children?

BSAC does not offer before school care to children at this time. We do offer after school sports camp to children between the ages of five and 14. While in sports camp children and teens are able to participate in a variety of fun and exciting activities. Children are given the opportunity to sign-up for activities like gymnastics, diving, swimming, tennis, arts and crafts, and sewing. Additionally, sports camp is focused on building character in each camper by focusing on a character-building concept every two weeks. Concepts covered include respect, integrity, and self confidence.

7. Does BSAC have a sauna and/or steam room?

BSAC does not offer a sauna and steam room to members at this time.

8. Does BSAC have racquetball courts?

BSAC does not offer racquetball courts to members at this time.

9. What type of equipment does BSAC have in its weight room?

10. What types of summer programs does BSAC offer?

BSAC offers a variety of programs for children and teens of all ages over the course of the summer. 11. Does BSAC offer scuba diving classes?

BSAC does not offer scuba diving training courses. BSAC does offer competitive and developmental diving lessons on its 1 and 3-meter springboard, as well as 5 and 10-meter platform.

12. Does BSAC have a tennis pro-shop?

BSAC does not offer a pro shop specifically for tennis. The BSAC Pro Shop is fully stocked with a variety of merchandise for members swimming, diving, tennis and gymnastics needs. The Pro Shop also offers refreshing drinks and a variety of other merchandise.

13. Does BSAC offer tennis racquet restringing?

BSAC does offer professional racquet restringing. If you need a racquet restrung, please contact the Director of Tennis Pete Stecher or BSAC's Head Tennis Professional Fernando Capetillo at (813) 689-0908, Ext. 24.

14. What types of tennis courts does BSAC have?

BSAC offers members four outdoor hard and six outdoor clay tennis courts. All of the courts also have state-of-the-art lighting.

15.Do you have to be a member to take lessons at BSAC?

BSAC does not require people interested in taking lessons to become a member. Whatever program you are interested in taking lessons with, please ask them for the program member rate. BSAC encourages everyone to become general members because they have access to all of BSAC's facilities.

16. What age does a child have to be in order to be dropped-off at the
Center alone?

In order to be dropped off at the center alone, children must be 12-years of age.

17. Does BSAC offer childcare while parents workout?

BSAC does not offer childcare while parents work out. There are plans to begin offering this service when the new state-of-the-are fitness center opens.

18. What age do children need to be to join BSAC's different team programs?

Depending on the program of interest, it is recommended that interested parents or guardians call or stop by the center to speak with the director of the particular program. Each program offered at BSAC is different and the individual coaches are knowledgeable in identifying talent levels. BSAC offers programs for children of all ages and abilities.
