Jetstream
Diving
The Jetstream Dive Team at the Brandon Sports
and Aquatic Center has a 38-year history of producing award-winning
champions. BSAC has served as the training center for several divers
who have gone on to earn medals in the Olympics, World Championships,
Pan American Games and Junior and Senior National Competitions.
BSAC boasts one of the top diving facilities in the country and
is the ONLY facility in the Tampa Bay area offering the unique advantage
of a dry-land training center.
BSAC offers lessons to divers of all levels
and ages. At the beginner level divers will work on stretching,
strength conditioning, fundamentals of diving including forward
entries, front and back jumps, as well as front and back fall-in
entries. At the bronze level, divers will work on learning a front
and back dive, an inward dive or a front flip from the one-meter.
Divers will learn front and back jumps as well as a front entry
from the three-meter. At the bronze level divers may begin competing
in the US Diving Developmental Competitions. At the silver level
new dives are taught in this class including front dive tuck, back
dive tuck, reverse dive tuck, inward dive tuck and front flip tuck
on the 1-meter; and back lineup, front dive tuck and inward dive
tuck on the 3-meter. At the gold level divers learn the remaining
dives required by U.S. Diving Junior Olympic diving rules, and will
receive specialized coaching in both dry-land and water workouts
individualized to their age and performance level.
The Jetstream Diving team members compete
locally and throughout the State of Florida. As divers develop they
will be invited to attend competitions throughout Florida and the
United States on the National level. The team includes divers of
all skill levels and ages.
Joe Greenwell has been the Jetstream Head
Coach since 1978. He was also the coach of the University of Florida
dive team for the 1987-88 season. He is a United States Master's
champion in the one, three, and 10 meter. He was a collegiate All
American, and a member of the National Championship team at Florida.

Facility
Diving Well
The diving well has 3 one-meters and 2 three-meters on concrete
stands with model B boards on all levels. One 1-meter board is equipped
with an overhead-spotting rig to be used as a supplemental training
tool. The platforms are staggered at one, five and ten meters. The
diving well is adjacent to the dry-land shelter for easy supervision
of activities at all times.
Dryland Training Area
The dry-land training is comprised of two springboards with port-pit,
three trampolines, and one 1-meter platform, all with spotting equipment.
Diver will have a chance to perform dives over and over in the safety
of a spotting rig before going take it to the water. We also have
a full indoor gymnasium with spring floor, foam pit and video room.

Team Structure
Beginners
Five years old and up, no experience
necessary. This class will teach stretching, strength conditioning,
and the basics of diving. It includes front and back jumps, front
and back fall-in entries and forward approaches.
Bronze
This class will further develop the skills covered in the beginner
class. In addition, the divers will also learn a front dive, a back
dive and either an inward dive or front flip from the 1-meter. They
will also learn front and back jumps and a front entry from the
3-meter. Divers may begin competing in U.S. Diving Developmental
Competitions, which requires a $50 annual fee.
Silver
This class will elaborate on the skills previously learned. New
dives taught in this class include front dive tuck, back dive tuck,
reverse dive tuck, inward dive tuck and front flip tuck on the 1-meter;
and back lineup, front dive tuck and inward dive tuck on the 3-meter.
Gold
The goal of this team is to prepare the diver for Junior Olympic
competition. They will learn the remaining dives required by U.S.
Diving Junior Olympic diving rules. The diver will receive specialized
coaching in both dry-land and water workouts individualized to their
age and performance level.
National Team
The divers on this team are training at the Junior Olympic and National
levels under United States Diving rules. At this level, diving becomes
a life skill or career. Divers from the Jetstream Team have received
scholarships to colleges and competed around the world.
