The BASE students at Brooker Elementary learned all about the famous impressionist artist Claude Monet for today's art project. Then the students tried their best to replicate their own version of Monet's most famous painting “Water Lilies”. After planning their art piece, they pasted different colors of tissue paper onto the page to create the impressionist effect. By the end of the activity, the students were proud of the beautiful pieces they created and were able to take home.
Today in the Odyssey of the Mind Club the students worked with their friends to solve the problem at hand. By each student creating a solution to the problem on their own and then sharing it with the rest of their group, the children were able to see that there was more than one way to solve the problem. Then after each solution was presented the students were able to work together to tie each of their ideas together to create an even more creative solution to the problem. At the end of the activity, the students were able to better understand that sometimes multiple minds working together is better than just one!
Today at Brooker Elementary, students in the basketball club had a fantastic time shooting hoops! The students helped their friends learn new skills on the court. Then the rest of the day was spent playing different games that incorporated basketball. The basketball club allows the students to practice their skills and learn new skills while having a great time playing with their friends.
Dear Friends of BSAC, BSAC would like to thank you for your interest in our upcoming fundraiser, The Trident Treasure Gala, which will take place Saturday, February 15, 2020, at The Regent in Riverview. We anticipate an outstanding evening with more than 425 guests in attendance. The Trident Treasure Gala will be our signature event of the year. Guests and sponsors will enjoy a sit-down dinner and open bar, all while dressed in their favorite pirate attire! Guests will also be able to bid on unique items in our silent and live auctions. All money raised will provide scholarships for programs that are very near and dear to our hearts! One of our favorite scholarships to give at BSAC is for our TRIDENT program. Special needs adults are given the opportunity to learn invaluable life skills and receive hands-on job training. We are unique in helping this special needs community because there are not a lot of programs that offer services to adults who have aged out of school. Our TRIDENT participants become more independent, contributing members to society. They also have a lot of fun learning, exercising and growing with their peers when they spend time with us in this program. BSAC also offers free swimming lessons to at-risk children in an effort to fulfill our mission of youth drowning prevention. Children in Florida are especially at risk for drowning due to the high number of bodies of water in our state. Qualifying families are also eligible for scholarships to the BSAC After-School Experience (BASE). Students have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular clubs at no extra cost, including robotics, arts & crafts, sports, culinary, community service, and more. BASE is located at our main location in addition to five Hillsborough County school sites, two of which are Title 1. Without the generous support of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we would not be able to provide the high-quality care our families depend on us for every day. Please consider becoming an event sponsor or donating a silent auction item. We anticipate this being our biggest year yet and look forward to working with you and your business.
