Brandi Hooper
Brandi HooperDirector of B.A.S.E.

Brandi studied Elementary Education at the University of South Florida and earned Directors Credentials through the Department of Children and Families.  She has participated in the education of young minds for the past 15 years including teaching VPK at BSAC.

Brandi has been involved in the community as a Board Member, youth soccer coach, and team parent. She has three children with her husband of 17 years and enjoys watching her family participate in extra-curricular activities.

“BSAC’s B.A.S.E. program provides an opportunity for your child to have different experiences in activities such as Culinary, Robotics, Sports, Community Service, Art, and Dance all while connecting them with the community around them and learning valuable life skills such as leadership, cooperation, and problem-solving.  Our goal is to impact their lives and to teach them how they can impact others.” -Brandi

Kara Kovalovich
Kara KovalovichDirector of Curriculum

For the past eight years, Kara has been working with children. For the past three years, she has been at Fishhawk and loves watching each of the children grow. Her favorite way to keep the students motivated is with the BASE star student of the week program. She explained that each child is motivated in a different way so positive behavior should never go unnoticed. Which is why the BASE star student of the week program is so beneficial. Her future plans include finishing her degree in special education at USF and to continue working at BSAC for a long time.

Felicia Hansrha
Felicia HansrhaCluster Director

Felicia has been with BSAC since 2017. She started off as a Counselor and has moved up to the Cluster Director and oversees three schools, Brooker, Kingswood, and Lithia Springs. Felicia earned her Associate’s degree in medical. She is happily married and is a dog mom! She enjoys spending quality time with her family and actively participate’s in a car club.

The kids would describe her as energetic and motivational. She ensures that they feel good about themselves and reminds them to always be themselves. Her favorite activity to participate in with them is arts and crafts.

Felicia said, “I enjoy watching the kids express their creativity.” She is excited to work and grow in her career with BSAC. She is optimistic and looks forward to being apart of the growth and opportunities that BSAC has to offer!

Ashley Recupero
Ashley RecuperoSite Director

Ashley graduated from Hillsborough Community College earning her Associate’s degree in Arts and Sciences. She previously worked for the YMCA for the past 6 years as a Site Director. In learning about the job opportunity from a friend Ashley jumped on the opportunity to work as a Site Director at BSAC. She loves working with the kids.

Ashley enjoys getting to know each of the children, building relationships with them all. The kids would describe Ashley as fun! She enjoys participating in activities with the them where they can get loud and have fun!

In Ashley’s free time she enjoys traveling, hiking and working out. Ashley is excited to continue working for BSAC, making a difference in the lives of these kids!

Chris Williams
Chris WilliamsCounselor

Chris comes from a big family and has several siblings. He is passionate about working with children which is what lead him to BSAC working as a counselor. His purpose and mission is to lead the children and to be an excellent role model for the kids. He encourages them by incorporating life lessons that he has learned.

Chris teaches that winning is not everything and losing is not always a negative; however, it can be used for us to learn, grow and become better individuals overall. Chris’s favorite activity with the kids is kickball. He demonstrates how important it is to work together as a team and conduct good sportsmanship. He is currently attending college at Hillsborough Community College and is working towards a degree as a Video Designer.

Chris’s greatest piece of advice is, “Always be yourself, be nice because you never know what someone is going through and always be kind.”

Wildaliz Ventura
Wildaliz VenturaCounselor

Wildaliz was looking for a job that had meaning and where she could make a difference! She loves working with the children! Activities that she enjoys participating in with the kids is tag and others various games such as the bonding game. A game that allows the kids to get to know one another.

The kids would describe her as nice and sweet. She likes to motivate the kids by encouraging them that they can do anything that they set their minds to.

Wildaliz enjoys reading in her free time and spending time with her family, they are her biggest support system. After high school she plans to attend the University of South Florida, majoring in Psychology.

Audrey Johnson
Audrey JohnsonCounselor

Audrey works as counselor for BSAC and loves what she does! The kids would describe her as funny and nice; however respecting her as their after school counselor. She motivates the kids by setting attainable goals for them to reach each week. In reaching these goals she rewards them with a surprise on Friday ‘s. Audrey loves being able to connect with the kids getting to know them individually! Her favorite activity to engage in with them is arts and crafts.

Audrey is currently attending Hillsborough Community College. After completing her associate’s degree she plans to transfer to the University of South Florida to attain her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.  She looks forward to working with children who have down syndrome and autism helping them to communicate more effectively.

Audrey’s greatest piece of advice to the kids is, “To listen and follow directions. In doing this will allow for activities to run much smoother.”

Anthony Young
Anthony YoungAssistant Site Director/Counselor

Anthony, Assistant Site Director/Counselor is passionate about making a difference in the lives of these kids. He enjoys working with them as it creates meaning and purpose in his life. They would describe Anthony as fun and caring. Being a mentor is extremely important to him as he is leading the kids helping them to focus on their passions. Seeing life through the eyes of the kids and their simplicity of life keeps him grounded.

Future plans for Anthony is to become a professional musician. He hopes to one day release his own music and have his own record label.

Anthony greatest advice is,”Strive for what you are passionate about. You will hear a lot of voices coming from all directions; however, it is important to follow your passions because this is where you will be the happiest.”

Elise Young
Elise YoungRunner

Elise is currently a Junior at Newsome High School and learned of the job opportunity from her brother Anthony who is also employed by BSAC. She has a passion for kids and loves working with them! The kids would describe her as fun, sweet and giving. She motivates them by encouraging them to set goals, reaching them as a group which enables the activities to run smoothly and for the kids to have a great after school experience.

Her main focus is building relationships with the kids and enjoys participating in outdoor activities from kickball to dodge ball. After completion of high school she plans to attend college, majoring in a teaching degree.

Her advice for the kids is, “Always set goals for yourself. Keep pushing yourself to reach those goals and keep moving forward.”
