Experience Team at Lithia Springs!

Brandi Hooper
Brandi HooperDirector of B.A.S.E.

Brandi studied Elementary Education at the University of South Florida and earned Directors Credentials through the Department of Children and Families.  She has participated in the education of young minds for the past 15 years including teaching VPK at BSAC.

Brandi has been involved in the community as a Board Member, youth soccer coach, and team parent. She has three children with her husband of 17 years and enjoys watching her family participate in extra-curricular activities.

“BSAC’s B.A.S.E. program provides an opportunity for your child to have different experiences in activities such as Culinary, Robotics, Sports, Community Service, Art, and Dance all while connecting them with the community around them and learning valuable life skills such as leadership, cooperation, and problem-solving.  Our goal is to impact their lives and to teach them how they can impact others.” -Brandi

Morgan Szymanski
Morgan SzymanskiB.A.S.E. Director of Curriculum

This year, we are thrilled to welcome Morgan as our new B.A.S.E. Director of Curriculum and Site Director at Kingswood Elementary.

Morgan graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in humanities and a minor in museum studies before completing her master’s degree in museum education. She brings valuable experience from her time planning educational programming for the Museum of Florida History before joining us at BSAC. Morgan also spent one month abroad in Italy for an archeological dig regarding the pre-roman era.

“We aren’t offering more school,” said Morgan. “We’re offering educational reinforcement by planning fun, innovative, and collaborative activities.”

Funda Bowen
Funda BowenLithia Springs Site Director

Originally from Turkey, Funda came to the United States due to her career with the Department of Defense. She was an international school director for both Turkey and Japan, overseeing various levels of education. She is particularly looking forward to working directly with children in her new role at BSAC, implementing hands-on club curriculum across all grade levels. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her daughter and going to the movies.

“The kids at BSAC will not only enjoy their activities after-school, but also gain new skills and abilities. It will give them a different perspective and new experiences that will make positive changes in their lives.” – Funda.

Jalen Daley
Jalen DaleyLithia Springs Assistant Site Director

Jalen first became a part of BSAC as a child in summer camp. His love for our organization grew with him as he advanced from camper, to volunteer, to Counselor in Training, to Counselor, then Lead Counselor and finally Assistant Site Director at Lithia Springs Elementary. Although he will be joining the administrative team, Jalen still looks forward to spending time with the children by helping out with homework whenever he can.

“It feels great earning this role. The hardest part will be not being at BSAC’s main location anymore because I’ve had the same kids for so many years now. I look forward to this new experience and hope to make an even bigger impact in the lives of each child that comes through our doors.” – Jalen

MeaganLithia Springs Mentor

Meagan is new to the Lithia Springs team but is no stranger when it comes to working with children. She brings relevant experience as a nanny and camp counselor for children diagnosed with cancer. Meagan is currently studying Marine Biology and plans to pursue a career rescuing injured sea animals. Her passion for the environment carries over into her teaching role in this year’s gardening and community service club. In her spare time, Meagan can be found playing with her brother and volunteering at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

“I am very passionate about the environment and trying new things. I want to help my students find something they are passionate about as well.” – Meagan.

ElenaLithia Springs Mentor

Elena is returning for her second year as a BASE Mentor! She brings 30 years of experience working for the public school system and 11 years of experience working at summer camps. Elena can’t wait to be involved with BSAC’s Culinary Club and Arts & Crafts Club.  Her favorite BASE moment so far was when a student and her mother brought in flowers for Mother’s Day.

MadisonLithia Springs Mentor

Madison will be a returning counselor at Lithia Springs bringing past experience in childcare and library education. She will be teaching the art and culinary club again after having a great time with her students last year! Madison really enjoys helping others and plans to pursue a career in pediatric nursing. In her spare time you can find her working out, listening to music, and studying.

“I’m looking forward to making sure the kids have a good time and that they’re always wanting to come back! I’m a really positive person that loves putting a smile on their face.  I talk to them one on one to give emotional support and encourage them to do their best!” – Madison.

DavenLithia Springs Mentor

Before working at BSAC, Daven gained valuable experience as a camp counselor for foster children. He also spent four years molding young minds as an academic tutor. Daven plans to continue pursuing a career that focuses on positively impacting children. In his spare time, you can find him playing sports and video games with his friends. Daven will be leading the sports and robotics clubs this fall, pushing students to be the best they can possibly be both on and off the playing fields.

“I really do want to help kids realize their potential which is why I want to be a mentor; to make a difference. I look forward to meeting the kids and building those relationships to genuinely help them be successful.” – Daven.

VictoriaLithia Springs Mentor

Victoria was born in South Carolina then moved around the United States with her military family. She has enjoyed working with children in the past, and is now ready to take her training to the next level as a BSAC mentor and counselor. She looks forward to having a better understanding of how children think after getting to know them over a period of time. Victoria plans to study pediatric neuropsychology to continue her passion of helping children. In her spare time she enjoys fashion, art, sports and playing music.

“I want the kids to feel comfortable talking to me so I can be a good role model and help them through things in their life.” – Victoria

Christian Lithia Springs Mentor

Christian enjoys structured, hands-on activities with his students at Lithia Springs. He hopes to be a positive role model by teaching his students to be respectful and treat others how they would like to be treated. Christian considers himself to be quite the handyman and plans to pursue trade school to be a plumber or electrician. In his spare time, he enjoys studying history, playing video games and working on electronics.

“I want to encourage my students to stay positive and work hard to reach their goals.” – Christian.

ZarriaLithia Springs Counselor

Zarria is joining us for her second year as a BSAC Mentor! She is narrowing down her future career goals as she studies for her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. Zarria will be teaching robotics, culinary and dance this year. She loves impacting her students by being a positive role model and confidant. Zarria enjoys being involved in activities and helping kids understand their homework.

“I want to teach things outside of our curriculum like not having a bad attitude and being kind to others.” – Zarria

AshlynLithia Springs Runner

Ashlyn first joined the team a runner for Camp BSAC’s Passport to 2018.  She loves being around children and plans to become a pediatrician. She has been working behind the scenes at Lithia Springs for their play productions and will be instructing the dance club this school year. Ashlyn likes making her students happy by making them laugh and talking about their day.

“It will be fun to teach the kids different things for the showcase at the end of the year. This club can help them make new friends and get out of their comfort zone.” – Ashlyn.
