Spring has just sprung, but BSAC is ready for Summer Camp 2018! It all kicks off this Saturday, April 7th at our Summer Camp Open House event! We are inviting all families to come enjoy a day of snacks, face painting, and games as we open registration for Passport to Adventure. It will be a great opportunity to socialize with other families in the community and learn more about what BSAC really has to offer.
This year is particularly exciting as each weekly theme will correspond with a different geographical location on the globe. We are scheduling field trips to align with those weekly themes, giving each child a taste of new cultures with new experiences.
“We have been looking forward to Summer 2018 for quite some time. We have a lot of great activities planned based on the feedback we received last summer” said Shelby Johnson, Senior Director of Educational Programming. “You will see more field trips, camper and counselor challenges and on-site interaction opportunities.”
Opening ceremonies have been a long standing tradition amongst all cultures. Week one: World Games will bring campers together through team building challenges with each other and their counselors. What better way to begin camp than to make strong friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!
Campers should be ready to unleash their wild side for week two. “I can’t wait for the week Africa because it’s beast mode! I think of games that involve animals like lions and tigers” said returning camper Gavin, 4th grade. “Summer camp is just awesome! My favorite thing to do is play tag and marco polo in the pool.”
Other weekly themes include Asia: The Amazing Race, Antarctica: Ice, Ice Baby, Europe: Sports of All Sorts, and The United States: Red, White, & Boom!
Second grader, DJ loves spending time in the pools at BSAC: “I’m excited about summer camp because we get to go swimming every day unless it is storming!”
Campers who love water need to attend week 7, The Islands: Seas the Day! All campers are able to enjoy free swim almost every day, but this week is especially packed with water games and activities.
“They should go to summer camp because they can do swim lessons here. And then they can go swimming on the field trips too!” said second grader Amiyah. “I love doing handstands in the water when we swim. I can’t wait to see my friends!”
Campers will also enjoy France: Bon Appetite, Australia: Reptiles, Rays, & Roos, South America: Carnival of Colors, and finally, Celebrations Around the World.
“We look forward to seeing our familiar BSAC Summer Camp faces and are excited for the opportunity to meet new friends” said Johnson.
